The village conservation area around the green, the rural properties down toward the Misbourne, and the newer plots off Deanway all bring their own tree stock and constraints, and we know the area well. ### Response times to Chalfont St Giles Site visits in HP8 are typically within a few working days. The short drive from Amersham helps with genuine emergencies (fallen trees, split limbs, storm damage) which are prioritised. ### Familiarity with Chalfont St Giles property types Chalfont St Giles has a strong village character: period cottages around the green and along the High Street, larger detached houses on wooded plots up Silsden Lane and Deanway, and rural properties out toward Jordans and Seer Green with mature specimen trees and ancient hedgerows. ### Common service needs in Chalfont St Giles Common requests are crown reductions and thinning on mature oaks, beeches and limes; TPO and conservation area applications for pretty much any significant work in the village; long hedge reductions on boundary runs; and safe dismantling of overgrown conifers in rear gardens. View service Why choose us in Chalfont St Giles ## Concrete reasons — not vague promises. ### Close to base Around 10 minutes from Amersham. Short travel means fast site visits and manageable emergency response. ### Village conservation area experienced The Chalfont St Giles conservation area covers a large part of the village. We handle the required 5-day notification to the council on your behalf. ### Discreet, tidy site working Village jobs mean neighbours close by. We keep noise to necessary hours, protect verges and greens where relevant, and clear the site down before leaving. ### EA-registered waste removal All arisings taken under Environment Agency Waste Carrier registration. Nothing dumped in field corners or over the fence. Common issues in Chalfont St Giles ## Local problems we deal with every week. Property age, tree stock, soil and climate all shape the work here. These are the things we see most often across HP8. ### Mature village trees needing careful reduction The specimen oaks and beeches on many Chalfont St Giles plots are decades old and often close to buildings or lanes. Careful, staged reductions to BS 3998 principles preserve the tree while relieving weight and improving light. ### TPOs and the village conservation area Most of the historic core is in the conservation area and many individual trees carry TPOs. Cutting without paperwork can trigger enforcement — we check first and handle the application either way. ### Rural property access and rigging Larger rural properties out toward Jordans often have veteran trees in awkward positions — over buildings, over roads or over stock fencing. Section-dismantling with proper rigging, not free-drop felling, is standard here. ### Ancient hedgerow management Rural boundaries in HP8 often include ancient hedgerows with hazel, blackthorn, hawthorn and field maple. These need laying or coppicing on rotation rather than being flat-topped like a garden hedge. ### Storm damage in the Misbourne valley The Misbourne valley funnels wind and rain, and mature trees on wet ground fail in winter storms. Emergency call-outs across HP8 are prioritised through the storm season. Our Process ## A clear step-by-step system — same in Chalfont St Giles as anywhere. - 01 ### Call or message us A quick chat on 07777 722212 (or a message with a photo) is usually enough to tell you whether it's straightforward, whether it's likely to need council paperwork, and roughly what a site visit will involve. No pressure, no automated call centre. - 02 ### Free on-site survey We come out to look at the tree, the access, the drop zones, overhead lines, parking and anything sensitive nearby. On protected trees we photograph the condition and note the works needed for the application. - 03 ### Fixed written quote You get a clear written price — fixed for the job, or a day rate if that suits the work better — with the method, waste plan and timing spelled out. No 'from £X' figures and no surprises on the invoice. - 04 ### Book in & handle paperwork We agree a date that works for you and, where the tree has a Tree Preservation Order or sits in a conservation area, we prepare and submit the application or 5-day notification on your behalf as standard. - 05 ### Do the work, clear the site The crew arrives on time, protects the ground and beds, uses ropes and rigging where needed, chips and removes all arisings under our Environment Agency waste carrier registration, and rakes the site down before leaving.
